Super Short Album Review: Tinted Windows, Self-Titled Album

May 1st, 2009

After the break up of The Smashing Pumpkins, in 2000,  James Iha moved on to join A Perfect Circle.

After two albums with APC, one decent, and one mediocre, James has formed a “supergroup” with singer Taylor Hanson of Hanson, bassist Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne and Ivy, and Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick.

Their self-titled album Tinted Windows was released on April 21, 2009 – and it is awful.

Check out the music video for their “hit single” Kind of A Girl:

Trite, simple, and disapointing. For a rock “supergroup” we sure don’t get a lot of bang for our buck with Tinted Windows. Not only do I expect more from James, Adam and Bun, but even Taylor Hanson can be a talented musician.

Tinted Windows’ debut album is poppy, sophmoric and uninteresting.

Everything in its right place

I start moving into my new apartment this week, the fourth in four years of university. Five if I counted the dorms freshman year.

I can’t help but think that everything is in its right place.

And I can’t get radiohead out of my head. Not that I want to.
