An open classroom

When the pandemic moved El Centro’s classes online, I opened my beverage-management class to the public. The new format made it possible to invite guests who would have been difficult to bring into the physical classroom.

Practitioners as guests

A coffee class brought in Kathy Altamirano of Counter Culture Coffee. An introduction to beer featured Andrew Huerter of BrainDead Brewing. Students and the public could learn from the people making and serving these drinks, together in the same online classroom.

Happy Hour #4: Coffee, with Kathy Altamirano, then regional manager at Counter Culture Coffee.
Happy Hour #5: An Introduction to Beer, with Andrew Huerter, then chief brewer at BrainDead Brewing.
